We have so much snow even our snow banks have lambs on them. I did not build a lamb statue on the snow bank however it sure looks like I did! We have 28 lambs on the ground and only two ewes to go! Staying warm no matter what it takes. This is BooBoo our Romney/Finn ewe. The only lamb that is hers in this bunch is the white girl in the front. Sweetness through and through! Karina kicked off St Patty's day by having twins. A ram and ewe lamb. They are both healthy but unfortunately I found them in the zero degree weather practically frozen. The little girl (with the drooping ears) has frostbite on her ears. Karina did everything right for a first time Mom, I had checked at 3am and everything was quiet. At 6:30am Karina was in the shed with both lambs in a corner licking them. It took a few hours of intensive warming before they were strong enough to suckle. Dang this weather. They will be fine but the little girl might lose the end of her ears. So sad. :( Next on Tuesday the 18th BooBoo our Finn/Romney ewe delivered twin ewe lambs. They are strong and healthy and perfectly adorable. Minnies boy catching some rays on Mom's back! Marra's girls growing fast. Gosh can it be 3 weeks already. Elsie drew the short end of the straw and was chosen to see what that big fluffy thing was. "Hey guys, she's not so bad, actually kind sweet" :) Elsie 10pounds, Josie 135pounds Minnie our Romney ewe had twins Tuesday morning. These babes are 1/2 Finn 1/2 Romney. They were born at 11.5pounds each! Minnie's handsome ram lamb at two hours old. Her beautiful ewe lamb. Oh and here are the Badger brothers! Valerie's boys at 3 days old. They are grey badgers abounding with personality. Valerie delivered triplets Saturday morning at about 1:30am. At my 2:00am check she had lambed out behind one of the sheds. At first I thought she had twins, so I quickly got them in a jug and went out to check and sure enough there was one in the snow bank. She has two beautiful grey bandger rams and a gorgeous black ewe. This little boy is the one I found in the snow bank. It took us 3 hours to warm him up to where he could stand and suckle. We brought him in the house and gave him milk through a tube and put him by the woodstove with blankets. Eventually he roused and stood and baahhhhed. Back with Mom he went and is doing great! We are so thankful he survived. |
