Now that is pushing it just a bit but the Finnsheep have a shorter gestation period especially if they are carrying multiple lambs. So my bet is on Clover who had triplets last year and this year is more seasoned. Stay tuned for the lamb
January is gone. Well in 7 hrs.!!!! I am done with hibernating. I might be rushing things but at least the first very cold month is done! On to, vaccinations, shearing, watching watching and watching. If I figure correctly the first lamb "might" make an appearance on Feb 25th. Wow.

Knowing that the little lambs are safely growing inside the ewes. Time seems to be dragging on this cold January day. They all seem content and happy and well fed. I am dreaming of what might come in March, how many? ewes or rams? what colors? So much to look forward to , we will be expanding our flock next year and are on the lookout for some registered Finnsheep to join us here at Sweet Clover. If you have some for sale you can contac
I thought I might share a story from last years lambing season. (Our first). We had a ewe that we limped through 3 weeks of pregnancy toxemia to be rewarded with triplets! Unfortunately we lost one the first night. (We are continuing to learn alot). We were very nervous so we went to check on the two remaining ewe lambs early that next morning. They were 24 hours old. As we entered the jug we found one lamb floating completely submerged and lifeless in the cold water bucket. My husband yanked her out and started chest compressions, I said, "I read in a book that if you swing a non-breathing lamb around your head by its back legs it might start breathing "........ so my husband desperate grabbed her and swung her around his head a few times. Back down on the ground he started compressions again. We both said, we think it is too late. At that precise moment out of the tiny lambs mouth squirts a bit of water and her eyes flutter. A miracle for sure. I held her inside in front of the wood stove for three hours. When she warmed up she was able to stand and take a bottle. Today she is a healthy, friendly absolutely adorable Finn ewe. It was quite and experience , one that we will never forget. Dont ever give up!!!!!!!!
