The waiting is killing me :) Only two weeks to go before we start delivering. This is like waiting for Christmas when you were a kid. All is in order. CDT's have been given, lambing supplies collected, everything is in GO condition. The girls are all doing the preggo waddle and consuming lots and lots of food. So exciting! Stay tuned for little lamb updates as they happen!
Our three grandsons visited at Christmas this year. Watching them and the sheep never gets old !!!! If your looking for friendly give us a call !
We are back in business! Today we put our new ram lambs now 7 months old in with their ewes. They were quite taken with the girls and I am so excited about the new lambs in March!! The breeding pods are Mika (brown badger) with Tara, Leena, Madeline, Giselle and Aava. Fred (the white) is with Vanessa, Karina, Sade and Kiki. Fall is such a fun time of year. We are thankful everyday that we can continue on our journey here at Sweet Clover Farm!
We are very excited to introduce our newest rams. They are just 3 1/2 months old now but are large gorgeous boys. Fredrick is the white ram lamb who carries for brown and Mika is the brown badger. We are looking forward to a lot of lambs from them come March 2019!
Weaning Day......oh my ...the noise ,the noise, the noise! Today we separated the lambs from the ewes. One step closer to sending them off to their forever homes. It is never easy but everyone adjusts after awhile. In the meantime we don our earplugs!
Two more have delivered. Tara had triplets at 2:30am during the blizzard "Stella". She had a beautiful brown ewe lamb and two ram lambs. All are well and unbelievably now a week old! Next was Mini Me our Finn/Romney ewe. She delivered twins on Mar. 21st. One was a big black ewe lamb pictured and the second was a tiny white ewe lamb. (someone got all the groceries from Mom). The tiny white one didn't want to nurse or stand very well. The next day we had to bring her in the house to give extreme TLC. She is coming along but remains in her play pen by the fire. She eats a small amount every 3 hours. We are hoping that she continues to gain strength and can rejoin the flock soon. We have one ewe to deliver but she was bred late so it might be a few weeks. So we can catch up on our sleep for a bit!!!!!
Hi Folks! I am a little behind on the lambing updates. :) So here it is in a nutshell. Sat. night Leena a first time Mom delivered twins at 2:30am. (yes that was indeed the coldest night of the year). The ewe had severe hypothermia but I got her back with the use of a hairdryer. Took about 2 1/2 hrs. She is doing great.
This morning we had double the fun. Kiki delivered triplets at 7:30am and Karina twins at 8:30am. All are doing fantastic! So that puts our count at 29 lambs on the ground, 18 ewe lambs, 11 ram lambs and 3 ewes to deliver. The picture is of some of the older "a week" lambs enjoying todays sun before the snow hits. Will be so happy when sunny warm days are the norm.! Today brought Priscilla our Finn/Columbia cross delivering quads. Unfortunately she delivered between the 3am and 6am check. We lost a big ram lamb but have 3 healthy ewe lambs ! Priscilla is a wonderful mother. With the Columbia added to the Finn these lambs are much bigger than the purebred lambs. The girls weighed in at 7-8-9 lbs.......... So we have two ewes delivered, 10 to go and 8 lambs on the ground. The quints from yesterday are doing great! (second picture)
